I’m a Pittsburgh native, and I moved to New York City to pursue my love of writing. Currently, I’m a Brooklyn-based freelance journalist working as the New York Editor at Inhabitat. I received my Master’s from the City University New York Graduate School of Journalism, and I hold Bachelor of Arts degrees in English writing and art history from the University of Pittsburgh. I’ve written for Pittsburgh City Paper, The Original magazine, the Brooklyn Eagle, the New York City News Service, and Brooklyn the Borough. I love art, farmer’s markets, and magazines, and I can never, ever refuse pizza.

Hi Jessica,
I just read your wonderful story on Van Leeuwen Ice Cream on your blog (http://blogs.journalism.cuny.edu/jessicadailey/2010/03/22/qa-van-leeuwen-artisan-ice-cream/). Great photos, too!
I’m the illustrator who created all the art at Van Leeuwen. I was living in Brooklyn (Park Slope) when I started working with Ben, but now I’m based in Seattle, WA.
I invite you (and your readers) to take a look at my site: http://www.elaratanguy.com. The full collection of original commissioned ice cream art is there. I could also post my link as a comment to your story, perhaps. What do you think?
All the best, and keep up the good work!
Elara
Hi Jessica,
I’ve read your work. It’s beautiful, concise, and informative.
Maybe when I’m in the NYC area we could meet?
I’d love to get to know a writer as brilliant as yourself.
